i hate the fact that merlin thought arthur would never notice, or even care, if he vanished.

merlin never got to see the worried, anxious, angry side of arthur when he ordered his knights to look for him. merlin never got to see the worry in arthur’s face of thinking he lost merlin forever.

every time merlin would say, “don’t worry, he won’t notice i’m gone,” my heart broke. because he truly thought that; when in reality, arthur was breaking whenever merlin disappeared and did everything in his power to bring him back.

merlin deserved to know how much arthur cared for him. merlin deserved to say, “yes, he’d be devastated if i left.” merlin deserved to know arthur would do anything, and i mean anything, to get him back.

merlin deserved to know arthur cared about him more than anyone.
