the omega-13 is such a cool idea like it tosses out the paradoxes involved in time travel by so sharply limiting the amount of time you can go back: it only gives you enough time to undo one terrible mistake, and only if it’s so bad and so huge that you realize immediately how bad it is
like no this is a parody movie but it has a smarter plot and more interesting characters and more genuine emotion than like ninety percent of serious sci-fi movies

the hero that comes in at the last second to save the ship and the thermians and the whole crew is a teenage fanboy who succeeds because he’s a fan do you understand how amazing that is like patrick stewart initially refused to watch the movie because it looked like it would be cruel to the fans but then he was almost in tears when he actually saw it because it got fandom right and it’s all about the fans
no but the whole plot is centered around people (and aliens) being inspired by fictional heroes and believing in them and using that belief to give them strength and hope and going to great lengths to create amazing things or work up beautiful, accurate theories out of nothing more than love that’s amazing
The BURNING FEMINISM – it’s so intense and such a brutal commentary on the role of women in sci-fi and fan service and a conscious choice to cast the first female action star in sci-fi as the character who is dissatisfied with having to “repeat the computer” as her whole job is so brilliant. Oh, and Sigourney was in her 40s when that was filmed can we get a fucking amen for older leading lady parts too?

See, this kills me because it’s a pretty fucking fundamental driving force in Eliot Spencer’s character – “you can’t make that promise to more than one person.” And yet he ends the series doing exactly that.
The evil writerly part of my brain wants to know what happens when he can’t be there for Parker and Hardison both at the same moment. Whether it’s a heist gone wrong and he has to choose who to protect, or they’re in conflict with each other and he can’t avoid taking sides – what happens?
Hardison. (At least for the job gone wrong, and assuming nothing in the job fundamentally supercedes it by putting other’s lives in danger.) Parker would tell him to get Hardison out and he’d do it, because that’s what makes them…them.
And when Hardison demands why, Eliot tells him, “she said to say, there’s never a plan M.”
