something that never sat right with me during civil war, was that no one defended themselves when Ross waa showing those clips. instead we got a shot of everyone feeling guilty. The clips he showed were:
-hulk smashing into a building during the attack on new york: the attack was a result of government agency SHIELD tampering with the tesseract. aliens were killing more people than hulk smashing into a building killed. the government was ready to nuke the entire city, which would have resulted in a much higher death count than the avengers when they were SAVING the city
-helicarriers falling in washington DC: that was the result of government organisation SHIELD and its higher ups who were HYDRA. the helicarriers were literally over the Potomac, it killed like 7 fish and 3 people while steve and team saved millions of people, also foiled a nazi world domination plan?????? bitch you’re supposed to thank them for it
-aou, sokovia: tony stark himself admits that sokovia was his fault later on in the movie. the avengers were helping clean up his mess. if the city had fallen, a whole lot more people would have died. and did we not see the avengers stopping to save one single life? (steve with the people in the car, clint literally trying to sacrifice himself for some random). sokovia was tony stark’s fault, and none of the other avengers should be held accountable for it, especially not steve
-lagos: are we forgetting that they were standing in a busy marketplace???? The bomb being set off there would have killed more people. also wanda was trying to take the bomb far away from people, and made one (1) mistake.
we never see any of the avengers (especially steve) being careless, ever, especially with human lives! the only person shown to be careless is tony stark, time and time again. so what the accords need to do is keep tony in check, not all the avengers
as someone with a bachelor’s degree in english, i am inexpressibly tired of people telling me to get highly specific jobs that often require highly specific degrees. “just go write for a magazine!” you need a journalism degree for that. “just teach!” you need a teaching certificate, and also fuck you. “just go work at a tutoring place!” tutoring children with learning disabilities, which make up the majority of the clientele at those places, requires not only a teaching certificate but a specialized master’s degree. “just go work at a library!” you need a master’s degree in library science to be a librarian. it is actually a highly skilled and extremely competitive field. you don’t just “go work at a library,” you train for years in the vain hope that you will get one of handful of available jobs. “just go work at a library.” the nerve. the unmitigated gall. “just go work at a library.” ugh.
Baby boomers: why don’t millennials just work 2 jobs?
Minimum wage jobs: ok so we need at least 4 full days of availability, must work holidays, can’t request a set schedule, must work weekends, and you will never know what day or what time you are gonna work until the schedule comes out 🙂
