can we talk about how brooklyn nine nine shows its okay for men to show affection? jake tells terry, holt and charles that he loves them and isn’t ridiculed for it because hey! men can love their friends platonically! terry is devoted to his daughters and isn’t afraid to do their pigtails or build princess castles and no one ridicules him for that or believes him to be less of a man for it. charles is a big softie and expresses his affection for his friends, particularly jake, all the time, and isn’t made to shut up and is never told he’s weak for it. 

brooklyn nine nine finally tells men that they can show love without being shamed for it and honestly it’s just fantastic.
